I’m innocent, says Sreesanth

NEW DELHI: Cricketer S Sreesanth arrested in the IPL spot fixing said that he is innocent in the case. During interrogation, he told police that he was not aware of it and was framed by his friend Jiju Janardhanan.

Sreesanth lost control and burst into tears during interrogation. As a cricketer, I am loyal to the country, he said. I’ve not accepted the Rs 40 lakh and not even once spoke to Jiju about the spot fixing. Jiju accepted money without my knowledge, he said.

Sreesanth said, “I’ve the habit of putting towel on my trousers and that was not the signal for spot fixing. This habit of mine may have been misused.”
Meanwhile, Ankit Chavan arrested along with Sreesanth has confessed to the crime.
