Vigilance probe against Elamaram Kareem

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister P K Kunhalikutty ordered a vigilance probe against former industries minister Elamaram Kareem and company MD Ganesh in connection with the irregularities detected in the textile corporation. The minister has signed in the file on it.

The finance department has detected misappropriation of Rs 23 crore in equipment purchase. The previous LDF government had announced the starting of a spinning mill at Uduma, hightech weaving mill at Pinarayi and spinning and weaving mill at Komalapuram. An amount of Rs 33.5 lakhs were spent for the inaugural function itself.

The department's inspection wing had sought to investigate the role of the managing director as well as his removal from the post.
