Congress withdraws support to M R Murali
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress has withdrawn its support to municipal chairman M R Murali and his party Janakeeya Vikasana Samithy (JVS) in the Shoranur municipality. Vice-Chairperson T Seena and chairmen of three standing committees P Mohammed, T K Hameed, and K Krishnakumar of the Congress resigned from their posts on Thursday. Announcing the decision at a press conference, District Congress Committee president C V Balachandran said the support was withdrawn as Murali did not honour a written agreement that had been reached between the JVS and the Congress to share the chairmanship. Though the chairmanship should have been handed over on April 17, 2013, Murali, after allying with the CPI (M), had refused to offer the post to the Congress, the DCC president said.
