30 appointed to Bhasha institute without govt knowledge

Malappuram: It is learnt that as many as 30 people were appointed via backdoor entry to Kerala Bhasha institute countering the orders of the state government and cultural department. Earlier, the government issued an order approving all appointments to the Bhasha institute to PSC. In 2006, the government also ordered that no temporary appointments would be made. Violating all these, appointments were made to temporary vacancies.

It is also suspected that appointments were made without the knowledge of the ruling committee. But if the ruling committee had known about it, then the minister concerned too would be aware of it. Majority who were appointed were relatives of retired persons from Bhasha institute.

The appointment was made to the posts of clerk, editorial assistant, office assistant, librarian and guest editor. The appointment was made in Thiruvananthapuram centre, Kozhikode regional centers
