Arun Kumar issue: Assembly panel submits report

Thursday, March 08, 2012: The Assembly committee inquiring into the allegations against V A Arun Kumar, son of opposition leader V S Achuthanandan on Thursday submitted its final report before Assembly Speaker G Karthikeyan.
According to reliable sources the Assembly panel had found out irregularities in the appointment of Arun Kumar. Even though the LDF members in the nine-member assembly committee had requested for the inclusion of their dissenting note in the report, the request was turned down by the VD Satheeshan MLA, chairman of the Assembly committee.
Meanwhile the Opposition members created a ruckus in the Kerala Assembly, following which Speaker G Karthikeyan granted permission for the members to table the dissenting note.
The committee had inquired into the various charges against Arun Kumar like his appointment as the additional director of IHRD; his appointment to the Model Finishing School and the foreign trips made by him.
