CM flags off MEMU train on Ekm-Kollam route

Sunday, March 18, 2012: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has flagged off the first Main-line Electrical Multiple Unit (MEMU) train, on the Ernakulam- Kollam route here on Sunday.
Thousands of short distance passengers in the Ernakulam, Kottayam, Alappuzha and Kollam will benefit from the service. The train will have stops at all stations and the running time between Kollam-Ernakulam will be 4 hours and 20 minutes.
The train service which starts from Kollam at 10.05 am will reach Ernakulam South at 2.15 pm via Kottayam. Then it will leave Kottayam at 2.45 pm and head towards Kollam at 6.45 pm.
From Kollam via Alappuzha at 9 am, MEMU reach Ernakulam South at 1.15 pm. At 2 pm, it will start for Kollam at 5.15 pm via Alappuzha.
