Sunday, March 25, 2012: Five workers were injured during an explosion at a fireworks shed in Vellayani Devi temple here on Sunday. The condition of two is reported to be serious.The injured have been identified as Vishnu (22), Unni (28), Vishnu (18), Shivakumar and Velappan (68). All hailing from Vellayani.
The injured have been admitted to Thiruvananthapuram medical college. Police officials and forensic experts visited the spot and collected evidence. The incident happened at 8.45 am just before the pongala festival in the temple.
