KSRTC driver held for drunken driving

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A major tragedy was averted when a KSRTC driver of the Vizhinjam depot was arrested by Thiruvallom police for drunken-driving. Sundaran, 42, was arrested from Poonkulam after the local people blocked the over-speeding Vizhinjam-bound bus and handed over the inebriated driver to the police.
According to Thiruvallom police, the driver could not control the wheels. The bus was moving in a zig-zag way and the frightened passengers had a tough time to stay on their heels. When the bus reached Poonkulam, the public present at the junction saw the erratic driving and sensed that there was something wrong with the driver. They blocked the vehicle and found that Sundaran was drunk. They brought him down from the vehicle and handed over to the police who had arrived after being alerted by the public.
The police took him to the station and after conducting a preliminary test they confirmed that he was drunk. A case was registered against him for driving under the influence of liquor.
