Kurisumala pilgrimage to begin on March 21

KOZHIKODE: Thousands of devotees, irrespective of their religious affinity, from the southern states would particate in the annual 'Kurisumala pilgrimage' to the hill shrine at Vellarada near Thiruvanthapuram on March 21. Welfare Committee Chairperson S Jayanthi and Media Coordinator Geetha Rajendran said arrangements were in full swing for the successful conduct of the five-day event organised by Latin Catholic Diocese of Neyyattinkara. They said the organizers would provide accommodation, food and medicine to the pilgrims converging to trek to the hilltop. Maria Soosapakyam, Metropolitan of the Thiruvananthapuram Latin Archdiocese, Neyyatinkara Bishop Vincent Samuel, among others, would lead the rituals connected with the pilgrimage, they said. Public meet, communal amity meet, procession and different religious programmes would also be held as part of the event, they added.
