Minimum wages for nurses from June 1

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has directed private hospitals in the state to pay new minimum wages to nurses from June 1onwards. Labour Minister Shibu Baby John alleged during Question Hour, that some hospital managements were trying to foil government's efforts in settling the nurses strike. The government was firm on its stand that nurses in the state should be given minimum wages, he said. The government's policy was to give salary through bank accounts. This will come into effect soon. The new minimum wages based on the Balaraman Committee report will also come into effect on June 1, he said.
