THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Minister of State for Food and Consumer Affairs K V Thomas has said that the Ministry had taken measures for enacting a law against illegal Ayurveda practices.
Inaugurating a meeting organised the other day by ‘Frame’ to honour Dr J Hareendran Nair, who received the Padma Shri award, Thomas said that there was now stiff competition in the sale of Ayurvedic medicines. More people are being attracted to Ayurveda treatment.
He warned that there are some activities going on in this field which torpedo the values and treatment methods of Ayurveda. The Minister lauded the efforts of Hareendran Nair for his contributions in Ayurveda and expressed the hope that the Padma award would help him explore more treatment methods in this discipline.
M Vijayakumar presided over the function. Kadakampally Surendran, Baby Thomas, K Suresh Kumar, Pratheesh Vamadevan and Pradeep Kumar spoke.
