Left youth front’s collectorate march turns violent


Wednesday, March 21, 2012: The Collectorate march taken out by the activists of the LDF youth wing organisations as a protest against the government move to raise the retirement age to 56, turned violent.
A tense situation is prevailing in the area as the protesters and police clashed in front of the collectorate. Police lathicharged and used water cannons when the march turned violent.
The Congress-led UDF Government in Kerala on Monday raised the retirement age of state government employees to 56 years from the existing 55. Finance Minister KM Mani made the announcement in this regard while presenting the state Budget for the current fiscal.
