Pongala: Police case against women withdrawn, says CM


Monday, March 12, 2012: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today informed that suo motu case registered by the Fort police against women, who took part in the Attukal pongala on March 7, has been withdrawn.
Addressing the presspersons here on Monday, Chandy added that the First Information Report (FIR) has been quashed. Necessary instructions have been given to suspend Deputy Commissioner of Police- V.C Mohanan pending inquiry in connection with the incident, he added.
The Fort police had registered case against the women for creating road block and restricting free movement as per the High Court directive on June 24th imposing a ban on wayside meetings. A report regarding this has been submitted before the Chief judicial magistrate Court.
