Talks fail, nurses’ stir in Lakeshore hospital to continue

Wednesday, March 14, 2012: Talks between the managements and the nurses on strike at Lakeshore Hospital l failed yet again on Wednesday.
Cheif Minister Oommen Chandy has convened a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the Kolenchery strike.
According to the representative of the unit of United Nurses’ Association at Lakeshore, the management had taken a harsh view towards the nurses for striking work.
The management was represented by the hospital’s general manager and a few members of the governing body. The Nurses’ Welfare Association was represented by its president Reena Reji and secretary Shivaprasad.
The nurses association had given a notice to the management on February 26 regarding yet another strike if the management did not implement the agreement drawn up at the intervention of the Labour Minister Shibu Baby John. However all talks had failed to be conclusive.
