Cinematographer A Vincent dies

CHENNAI: J C Daniel award recipient, noted cinematographer and director A Vincent passed away Wednesday. He was 86. He breathed his last at 11 am today at a private hospital in Chennai where he was undergoing treatment for pneumonia.

He was born on June 14 in 1928. After his intermediate, he became a studio boy in the Gemini Studio. He later became an assistant to cameraman K Ramanathan. He first began his career as a cameraman in Neelakkuyil. He has worked as a cameraman along with Sreedhar in Tamil. He has wielded the camera for almost 30 films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

His first directorial debut was Bhargavinilayam. Murappennu, Nagarame Nanni, Ashwamedham, Asuravithu, Thulabharam, Nizhalattam, Triveni, Gandharvakshetram, Chenda, Achani, Nakhangal, Wayanadan Thampan, Kochu Themmadi are some of his memorable films. He has bagged state government’s best director award for Thulabharam in 1969.

He has two sons and two daughters.
