Police failure to record Chandrabose’ statement shrouded in mystery

THRISSUR: There is some enigma surrounding the police’ inability to record the statements of security staff Chanrabose, who had died after an attack by businessman Nisham.

The police had explained that Chandrabose’s health condition was so weak that he could not speak. But, interestingly, Doctor Rennis David who tended to him revealed on Tuesday that while under treatment, Chandrabose had spoken to him.

Now it is alleged that police deliberately avoided recording his statement at it could have been counted as his dying declaration. The statement, if recorded , would  ultimately lead to Nisham getting punished. This foresightedness must have prompted Nisham’s protectors to put pressure on the police not to record statements.

The doctor who knew Chandrabose earlier said that he was in a position to speak in the initial days of the treatment. “He could identify people. In the attack his internal organs and ribs got damaged,” the doctor said.
