Govt job for national games medal winners, says CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sports persons of Kerala who bagged gold medals in the national games would be given government jobs soon, said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Those in government service will be given additional increment and immediate appointments will be made in 250 posts, he told reporters while talking at the games village in Menamkkulam.

Sajan Prakash, Elizabeth Antony, Anilda Thomas, Anu Raghavan qualified for Olympics will be given a job of gazetted rank. Gold, silver and bronze medal winners will be given Rs 5, 3 and 2 lakhs each respectively.

An amount of Rs one crore will be given to those bagging medals at the Olympics, the chief minister said.

The success of the games goes to the sports minister and the volunteers. A sports college will be started at Chingavanom in Kottayam and a sports school in Kozhikde.

Various departments will be given the maintenance charge of the national games stadiums.
