THRISSUR: IG has given a report to ADGP, recommending a detailed probe against former Thrissur Police Commissioner and current Pathanamthitta SP Jacob Job for allegedly meeting controversial businessman Nisham in jail. Nisham is in jail for allegedly slamming his posh car against security man Chandrabose, who eventually died in hospital.
The IG’s report points out that Jacob Job going alone to question Nisham was against norms and it gave rise to several doubts.
Jacob had met Nisham on February 10, a day before his custody term ended and he had avoided other officers' presence then.
Nisham’s custody report was not ready at that time and the timing of the meeting was that turned controversial.
However, Jacob explained that he had questioned Nisham, as he had the authority to do so as a commissioner. “I had questioned him about the allegation that he was taken to Bangalore for a pleasure trip. Even I have been receiving threats and duress from Nisham’s side,” he added.
