KOCHI: The distribution of LPG has come to a halt in nine districts following a strike by the drivers of Kochi Refinery. The tanker drivers of Bharat Gas are on strike demanding the appointment of cleaners. As all drivers have joined the strike, the distribution of LPG to nine districts have been stalled. This will lead to scarcity of cooking gas in the coming days. There are almost 60 dealers in nine districts.
The lorry drivers have decided not to withdraw the strike unless their demand is met. Gas distribution have come to a halt in central Kerala and Malabar. The management had earlier stated that their demand cannot be accepted. It is hinted that there is no change in their decision. Domestic consumers will suffer if the distribution is stalled completely. The Vishu festival will be affected if the strike prolongs.
