16 gets life sentence in Sister Valsa John murder case

JHARKHAND: Sixteen persons have been awarded life sentence in connection with the murder of Sister Valsa John, a Keralite. The punishment was awarded by the Pakur district court. A team stabbed and hacked her on the night of November 15, 2011 at Pachuara village of Pakur district.

52-year-old nun, who was fighting for the rights of the miners in coal rich region for over two decades, was hacked to death by 45 people, out of whom 30 were Maoists.

The police were able to nab the accused on the search conducted after details given by the nun’s aide Sonia Deheri.
