Cartoonist Joy Kulanada dies

PATHANAMTHITTA: Noted cartoonist Joy Kulanada died here Monday. He died of cancer at a private hospital in Pandalam.

His first cartoon was published in Malayala Nadu weekly in 1969 when he was a student. He had worked in Veekshanam daily and Canara Bank after completing his studies. In 1977, he got a job in a commercial bank in Abdudhabi. At that time, he drew cartoons for various publications in Kerala and Gulf. He has drawn various caricatures also.

He has written books like Gulf Corner, Silence Please, Best of Silence Please amd Nethakkalude Lokam. He has obtained the Kerala Lalithakala Academy Award and Cartoon Academy Award. He had also served as the vice chairman of Cartoon Academy and chairman of Kerala Animation Academy.
