Engineer falls to death

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 25-year-old biomedical engineer, working as a biomedical supervisor at the construction site of a private hospital at Murinjapalam, fell to his death from the fourth floor of the building here on Wednesday.

According to the Medical College police, Vaisakh, the only son of Ambarish and Ajitha of Powdikonam, was supervising works on a labour room that was being set up on the fourth floor of the building, an old hospital that is being renovated by a prominent group.

He is said to have stepped out on to the concrete ledge through a window to check on a newly fixed pipeline. He was walking along the ledge towards the pipeline, when he is believed to have stepped on an aluminium sheet, which was laid there to fill up a gap on the ledge. The sheet did not take his weight and he fell onto the roof of a room on the ground floor.
