Sudheeran sticks to his stand, I too will opt out, says Chandy

NEW DELHI: Feud appears to be brewing within the Congress in connection with the selection of candidates after KPCC chief V M Sudheeran and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy are sticking in their respective stands. Talking to reporters here, Sudheeran said there is no situation to change his stand. There is nothing unusual over the list of candidates.

Sudheeran said holding talks during polls are quite usual. There are no big problems as shown by the media. A decision will be taken after holding talks on sitting MLAs contesting polls. Matters in connection with the candidates list and the present situation have been informed to congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, he said.

Meantime, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has expressed his discontent to Mukul Vasnik, AICC general secretary in charge of Kerala. The chief minister strongly reacted to Sudheeran’s directive that some permanent contesters and the tainted should opt out. He said at the screening committee that if the ministers opt out then he will also do the same. I am a permanent contester, I am also tainted and so will opt out, he said. At the same time, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala is in conciliatory talks with both Sudheeran and Oommen Chandy.
