Kalabhavan Mani’s death: Tharikida Sabu questioned

THRISSUR: Television host and film actor Tharikida Sabu was questioned by police on Thursday in connection with the death of actor Kalabhavan Mani.

He was questioned by about 10 in the morning at Chalakkudy CI office by a team headed by Administrative DySP Sudarshanan. The questioning was over by about 2 pm.

Sabu was reportedly present among those who consumed liquor with Mani ahead of his demise. He was questioned based on a Facebook post that there was poison in the liquor consumed by Mani and it was brought by Sabu. The police have found out that the author of post is a native of Malappuram. There are also reports that that person has been taken into custody.

Earlier, the police had arrested actor Jaffer Idukki. “After receiving the forensic report of Mani’s internal organs only will we be able to know the exact reason for Mani’s death. Further action will follow that,” the police said.

Meanwhile, Tharikida Sabu said he had no role in the demise of Mani. “Legal action will be taken against those spreading false news about me. The news about me seems to be written by some journalist. There could be conspiracy behind this,” Sabu told media persons.

Sabu had earned fame through the TV programme Tharikida. He had also acted in a few films.
