Seat sharing: Johny Nellore at odds with Congress

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Congress Jacob Group has locked horns with the Congress party over seat sharing for the Assembly election in the State. The Congress party’s talks with the Jacob group has more or less failed as the former was not ready to part with the Angamaly seat.

Jacob group leader Johnny Nellore has made it clear that their demand for four seats was not at all unfair and their main wish was continuity of governance for the UDF. Later his protest towards the UDF manifested in the form of his resignation as Oushadhi chairman.

Now, Nellore’s stand is that he need not take part in future UDF meetings. “The demand for four seats is certainly justifiable. In 2001, Moovattupuzha seat was taken away from us at the eleventh hour, and instead, we were given Angamaly seat. This time they have no plans to give Angamaly seat also. I have taken the present stand to express my protest against the Congress’ action that has hurt the sentiments of our party men,” he said.
