HC ends contempt of court case against Minister K C Joseph

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court Friday ended the contempt of court case proceedings against Cultural Affairs Minister K C Joseph. Justice Thottathil Radhakrishnan ended the proceedings by accepting his apology. The court further said it expects Joseph to refrain from such contemptuous behaviour in the future.

A contempt of court case was registered following his post in the Facebook. The court ended the case after he tendered his apology today. The minister had expressed his apology in the Facebook also. Though the minister reached the court at 12.30 pm, the case was considered only at 2.30 pm.

The case is that he had made some adverse remarks against high court Justice Alexander Thomas in the Facebook.

When he had earlier tendered an apology, the court observed that he owed an apology to the public as his Facebook comment had tended to scandalise the judiciary in the minds of the public.

Contempt of court proceedings had been initiated against him on a petition filed by V Sivankutty, MLA.
