Attempt made to ‘murder’ CPM man

PANUR: An alleged attempt was made to kill a CPM activist at Thazhe Pookothu that lies within Chokli Police Station limit.
The attack was made on Rashiqi from Pookkom canal area at around 11 on Friday night. Though the attackers barged into his house premise, took to heels through the back side of his house, avoiding any bloodshed.

Rashiqi, an active CPM worker, is the proprietor of Global Tech Travel Agencies with offices in Chokli and Pookkom town.  

The attack took place when he was returning home after closing his shop at Chokli. About 20  attackers, with their face covered, laid an ambush for him in his house premises with weapons including swords. Though they hacked his head, nothing happened as he was wearing a helmet. Hearing the commotion, the household members came out. Rashiqi threw his bag containing money and valuable documents into his house and escaped through the back entrance of his house.

After coming to know about the attack, CPM District Committee member P Hareendran, Panur Area Committee member K K Sudheer Kumar and Peringalam Local Secretary K P Rameshan reached the spot. They alleged that RSS men were behind the attack.
