VS seeks action against Adoor Prakash

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan has written to the SC/ST Commission seeking action against Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash for his action that allegedly amounted to ruining the life of Sholayur adivasis.

“According to the Zero landless (citizens) Project 2015, giving swathes of land in Palakkad Sholyur will adversely affect the Adivasis as 50 per cent of them are residing here. Mannarkkad Additional Thasildar, Ottapalam Sub-collector and Palakkad Distrcit Collector had submitted reports to the government in this regard.

The officials had reported that the above hillside land, which is not good for construction works, is 100 m away from Kallakkara Oor where 140 adivasi families are residing.
Even then the minister had taken a decision that would adversely affect the adivasis. The minister is said to have threatened the officials who reported the above facts. Under these circumstances, the Commission should interfere to stall the minister’s anti-adivasi steps,” wrote VS, who also plans to take legal course as the ultimate step.
