Mohanan's bail plea adjourned till May 1

KOZHIKODE: The Special Court hearing the sensational murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T P Chandrasekharan adjourned hearing the bail plea of senior CPI (M) leader P Mohanan till May 10. Fixing the new Additional Special Court Judge R Narayana Pisharoty directed the prosecution to submit verdicts by the Supreme Court in such cases. Strongly opposing the request the prosecution said granting bail to party district secretariat member Mohanan, a powerful politician in the locality, could influence the trial proceedings. Since the Kerala High Court had turned down his plea four times, it has to decide on it again, the prosecution said. His counsels M Ashokan and K Gopalakrishan Kurup, however, urged the court to consider the plea in the wake of SC's directive to look into the case. Chandrasekharan was hacked to death by Innova car borne assilants at Vallikode in the district while he was returning home on his motorbike on May 4, 2012.
