THIRUVANANTAHPURAM: The party will seek opinion from the public on the issues to be discussed during the polls held to local self-governing bodies, said CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. This is for the first time the CPM is seeking opinion from the public, he said.
Addressing the media, he said the party will campaign on the party’s political policy. The three-day state committee meet decided to strengthen the functioning of political activities in local self-governing bodies’ ahead of the polls.
The aim is to form a political policy against the BJP and the congress. A manifesto will be released on the things to be done if taken charge in the local polls. A seminar will be organized in panchayat, municipality and corporations. People’s opinion will be sought on the topics of the seminar.
Boxes will be kept in libraries, bus stands and markets to register their opinions. A topic for the seminar will be chosen as per the opinion of each panchayat. The party has also decided to organize an anti-communal seminar on September 12 against the increasing communalism of the country. The congress is trying to obtain majority by bifurcating wards as per their interest. A protest will be staged against it on August 20 in front of local self-governing bodies.
