NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Friday said they will examine if there is any discrimination in the liquor policy. The court made the statement when the bar hotel association pointed out that giving bar license to only five star hotels is part of discrimination.
Government’s act giving bar licence only to five star hotels when denying it to bars of four star status is seen as discrimination. Advocate for bar hotel association informed the court that one policy for standard four star bars and another for five star hotels cannot be accepted at all.
Meantime, advocate of Congress MLA T M Prathapan requested to warn Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi from appearing for bar owners. AG was not in the court at that time. A division bench consisting of Justices Vikramjith Sen and Sivakeerthy Singh said their stand will be informed when the matter is voiced when the AG is present in the court.
