THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan has sought a CBI inquiry into alleged corruption related to ‘108’ ambulance project. “As the Rajasthan government has ordered a CBI inquiry into a similar kind of corruption regarding 108 ambulance in that state, a CBI inquiry here also becomes relevant,” Achuthanandan said in a statement on Saturday.
The Comptroller and Auditor General had mentioned in his report, the graft and anomalies regarding the implementation of ‘108’ ambulance project. Based on that report, the CBI had filed a case against Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Congress State President Sachin Pilot, former Union Minister P Chindambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram and Vayalar Ravi’s son Ravi Krishnan. In Kerala also, allegation against the same company was raised. Former finance advisor of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Shafi Mehtar had also come under criticism for the alleged corruption. An attempt is being made to brush the issue under the carpet as the case has got inter-state connections and those involved in the case are highly influential persons financially and economically. Hence, the case should be handed over to the CBI,” the statement said.
