‘Police trying to sabotage case’

Casting doubts on the impartiality of police investigation into the moral policing incident which occurred at Vengode SUT Medical College near Nedumangad on July 3, the victims of the incident have alleged that the police was trying to sabotage the case and one of the persons arrested in connection with the case had actually helped them. Aji Kumar and his wife Santha, who were attacked by three miscreants near SUT Medical College, told mediapersons here  that the arrested DYFI local leader Bhagath Mohan had helped them to get medical attention at SUT hospital.

‘’The incident occurred when we were walking home after visiting my brother-in- law’s child who was admitted in the IC Unit of SUT medical college. We were blocked by Saranya Kumar, a BJP leader, who was travelling in his autorickshaw, near Vengode. He then telephoned his two other friends who joined Saranya Kumar and attacked us. When we were taken to the Medical College Hospital, Bhagath came there and helped us to get medical attention,’’ Aji Kumar claimed.  Aji also alleged that one of the police officers attached to Nedumangad police station took him to the station and it was then he found that the arrested was Bhagath.

‘’It is really painful to see an innocent person getting persecuted for helping us. Saranya Kumar was among the attackers and I can identify the other two who came there on a black colour bike,’’ he said. Aji added that he is getting threats from BJP workers who want him to withdraw charges against Saranya Kumar.
