Welspun may lower grant for Vizhinjam Project

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Welspun Group-led consortium may lower the grant amount it had sought from the Kerala government to operate Vizhinjam Container Transshipment Terminal.

Welspun will submit its renewed suggestions regarding the operation of the terminal today. Sources say that they would lower up to 100 crore rupees.

The consortium, which had earlier asked for a grant of 479.5 crore, had agreed to lower the amount by 30 crore at first and then by 20 crore more after the Kerala government asked it to reconsider the bid.

A consortium led by Welspun group was the only one to submit bids for the Vizhinjam terminal project after the home ministry denied security clearance to Adani group-controlled Mundra Port.
