Body of missing boy found

KOLLAM: The body of a seven-year-old-boy who went missing in the waters yesterday from the Kollam beach was found Monday morning. Varun, son of Santhosh and Reshmi, was one among a group of tourists from Bengaluru who came for a pleasure trip. His body was recovered Monday morning from near the Kollam beach. His body was brought to the shore by a team led by coastal police circle inspector R Ramachandran, sub inspectors Suresh Kumar and Prasanna Kumar. Varun’s grandfather D S Muralidharan (60) had drowned in the beach last evening.

Tragedy struck the tourists when they reached the beach Sunday morning at 8.20 am. Muralidharan, Varun and two other women were pulled into the waters when they were standing by the shoreline. Muralidharan and the women who rushed into the waters in an attempt to save Varun got caught in the waves. The three were saved by the lifeguards. Though the three were immediately rushed to the hospital, doctors declared Muralidharan dead on arrival.
