Kalburgi's murder, a challenge to freedom of expression

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prof. M K Sanu has said writers from Kerala renouncing Kendra Sahitya Akademy membership was an inspiration and eye-opener for people like me. He said this in his chat with media persons on Saturday.

“In a democracy, freedom of expression is a writer’s lifeline. Malleshappa Madivalappa Kalburgi’s murder is a challenge to mankind’s freedom of expression. A writer responds according to his logic and conscience. With an ascetic’s discipline, he performs his duty. And, killing him just for that reason is the cruellest thing,” he said
