Maoist attack: UAPA against five

PALAKKAD: Police have filed a case, invoking Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against five Maoists who allegedly opened fire at policemen in Attapady. The accused include Swadesi Soman from Wayanad and Ayyappan from Panniyoorpadi, who, according to the FIR registered, are the only Malayalis involved in the attack.

The police believe that woman Maoist Kanyakumari is also in the Maoist gang. They have not disclosed the names of the other two persons.     

Meanwhile, search is going on for more Maoists and a combined operation is being conducted by Thunderbolt and Police. The investigation is progressing under the instructions of Agaly DySP.
