Notorious criminal Aadu Antony finally in police net

PALAKKAD: The police Tuesday arrested Aadu Antony, a notorious criminal and an accused in many cases including stabbing to death a policeman. He was arrested through a clever move from his wife’s house in Gopalapuram in Palakkad.  

Antony stabbed to death driver Maniyan Pillai (47) of Paripally police station during vehicle inspection on June 26 in 2012. Pillai was murdered near the Kulamada junction when he intercepted the Maruti Omni Van in which the accused was fleeing.Maniyan Pillai and assistant sub-inspector Joy, who were on patrol duty, told Antony to come with them for interrogation as he appeared suspicious. He acted as if he was cooperating with the cops and fled the scene after stabbing Pillai and Joy. Though Pillai was taken to the hospital, his life could not be saved.

Antony’s van was later found abandoned near Varkala. He later fled to Chennai along with a woman identified as Susan. The police on getting information that Antony is in Shirdi reached there but he left the place leaving Susan there. Susan who was taken into custody got bail later.

The police stuck huge multicolored posters in and outside Kerala to nab him. A look out notice was also issued. The police were not able to conduct a probe based on his phone calls as he did not use one. A special team was entrusted later to nab him.
