Police cannot function as per decision of all party meet, says DGP

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: DGP T P Senkumar said they are firm on the circular released in connection with the killing of stray dogs. Addressing a press meet, he said they will not go back from their stand in taking action against those killing the stray dogs.

He said they have not obtained the order of the human rights commission in connection with the circular released by them. A reply will be given as soon as it is obtained. The high court should seek an explanation from us if any violation has taken place. We cannot act as per the decision of the all-party meet, he added.

The influence of Maoists is witnessed in forest areas of the state. A search has been intensified in these places. Two persons who fired at the police in Attappady have been identified. In reply to a question, he said 19 company central forces have been demanded for the local body polls. It is not that easy to get them as the Bihar polls are on.

The letter of opposition leader V S Achuthanandan seeking a probe on the corruption in SNDP’s microfinance has not been obtained. Nobody has sought a report from me in connection with the death of Swamy Saswathikananda, he said.
