CM blames protocol hurdle for not having invited governor

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has come out with explanation for not having invited Kerala governor P Sathasivam to the main function organised by the government on the Kerala formation day on November 1.

He said it was a collective decision not to invite the governor. “In a function to be attended by the governor, we may have to follow a protocol. When the Governor takes part in a function, we will have to apply certain restrictions,” he said during his address at the function.

“We have not forgotten the Governor. In the venue, seats were available only for 60 persons but now itself there are more than 60 persons on the dais, which is very much visible. It will be impractical to control the number. The ‘Kerala Piravi’ celebrations that began today will not end today itself and it will continue for the whole year. The governor will be invited in the next function to be held as part of the celebrations,” he said.
