A private channel reported that days before the assembly polls, she and her family snatched the money earmarked for the debt relief scheme for Mananthavady in Wayanad.

K M Mani, the then finance minister during his budget speech in 2014 had announced that loans for scheduled tribes till 2010 have been waived off under the scheme. An amount of Rs 2 crore was earmarked for it.  The cabinet convened on September 9 in 2015 decided to implement the scheme.
