UDF govt spent Rs 2:37 crore for welcome parties thrown to guests: CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today informed the Assembly that the previous UDF government under Oomen Chandy had lavished Rs 2.37 crore for welcome bash thrown to guests. Among the former ministers, K M Mani, who was the finance minister and one who had to resign after getting embroiled in Bar bribery scam, had spent the biggest amount for welcome parties.  The amount stands at Whopping Rs 18,40,885.

T M Jacob, who had been the Civil Supplies Minister for six months before his death, spent the lowest amount of Rs 59,831.50.
The chief minister made these revelations in reply to MLA U Prathibha Hari’s question without star mark.
