Gang rape: Police to record complainant’s statement again

THRISSUR: The police will again record the statement of the victim, gang raped by four in the district. This decision was taken at the high level meet presided over by Thrissur range IG M R Ajit Kumar, the head of the investigating team in the case. Her statements will be recorded by Guruvayur assistant commissioner P A Sivadas under Ajit Kumar.

The statement of CPM Wadakancherry councilor, one among the four accused, will also be registered. He had yesterday denied the allegations of rape.

Meantime, the meet assessed that the police misbehaved with the woman when she came to lodge the complaint. The police did not intervene even after the case is involved by top politicians.

A team led by former Peramangalam circle inspector Manikandan was exempted from investigation as part of corrective measures. The meet decided to conduct a comprehensive probe following the woman’s allegation.

The woman during a press meet had stated that she was questioned for three days in the name of the case. She was insulted in front of the public while taken for collecting evidence. The circle inspector misbehaved with her badly and used unsavory words.
