Kidnap case: First accused is Congress Corporation Vice-chairman

KOCHI: Four-member quotation team was today arrested in Kochi for kidnapping and threatening a person in connection with land reclamation.
The persons who fell into the trap laid by Anti-goonda Task Force were Ramshadh, Bharathan Shiju, Auto Abi, and Konchu Salam. The arrested are the members of Goon leader Bhai Nazeer’s team. The arrest was initiated by the complaint given by Nettoor native Shukoor to the Task Force.
Marad City Corporation vice-chairman and Congress leader Antony Ashamparambil is the first accused in the case.
The case relates to an incident in 2012, when a gang led by Antony arrived at Shukur’s own plot where he was filling it with sand and erected a flag on the land. After that a four-member quotation team appointed by Antony whisked away Shukur in a car. He was taken to an unknown place, threatened and beaten up.
The incident comes after the investigation started by the Task Force into a kidnap case in which CPM leader VA Zakir Hussain is the main accused.
Meanwhile, KPCC president V M Sudheeran has asked Ernakulam DCC president to probe the incident and submit a report to him.
