Maneka intervenes, Kavitha Pillai gets back her pet dog

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: She may be facing allegations of cheating in the name of arranging engineering seats, but she seems to be a dog lover.

Kavitha Pillai, an accused in the 2013 Entrance scam, got back her pet dog, after an immediate intervention made by Union Minister and true animal activist Maneka Gandhi.

The Enforcement Directorate officials had the other day come to seal her plush house. Though she had vacated the house, her Rottweiler dog was inside the kennel. Some neighbours were feeding it.

So before sealing the house, the ED officials, with the help of vet Abraham Tharakan had shifted the dog to the dog shelter at Palarivattom in Kochi. But Kavitha Pillai wrote to Maneka, saying the officials were not giving back her dog.

When Maneka Gandhi called the ED office, the officials were surprised and replied that there the complaint was not valid. And, they explained the circumstances that led to the rehousing of the dog.

Now, Pillai is happy that she got back her pet at least, thanks to the quick and sincere efforts from the minister’s office.
