THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Party general secretary Sitaram Yechuri Monday lambasted CPM Thrissur district secretary K Radhakrishnan for revealing Wadakkancherry gang rape victim’s name. He shouldn’t have made such a statement and will examine this issue, he said. He said this while talking to reporters when came to inaugurate the year-long programmes organized by the CPM as part of the October Revolution.
The CPM survives for the equality of women. CPM activists’ connection with the goons cannot be accepted. The allegations levelled against the leaders will be examined, he said.
CPM politburo member Vrinda Karat has also termed the stand as ‘wrong’ revealing the name of the victim. The party stand is that the name of the victim should not be publicized. The party will not protect the guilty. Action should be taken against party activists who tried to settle the case, she said.
