Gold price climbs down

THIRUVANANTHPURAM: The gold price has come down with the same ease with which it had gone up. The price came down by Rs 600 per sovereign and today’s gold price landed at Rs 22,880 per sovereign. The price of one gram came down by Rs 75 to become Rs 2860.

Yesterday, the price of a sovereign gold was Rs 23,480.

Following the scrapping of Rs 500 and Rs 1000, customers, who were having rupees of those denominations, had crowded in jewellery shops for buying gold. Though they thought of converting Rs 500 and Rs 1000 into gold, those notes were not accepted by jewellery shops.  The shoppers only accepted credit/debit cards or cheques and due to this many had to return empty handed unable to buy even half a sovereign of gold.
