Jisha murder case trial: Lawyers ask media persons to leave court room

KOCHI: Despite repeated assurance from the high court and registrar that media persons are free to report from courts, they again faced resistance from lawyers today when they came to report the trial of Jisha murder case accused Ameerul Islam.

The incident happened today at around 2:30 pm.  Twelve media persons including three women media persons had reached the court. And, when the judge considered the case, the lawyers asked media persons to go out of the court room.

The media persons didn’t concede to the demand first but later Shirastedar reached the spot and asked them to go out. Shirastedhar later said that he had asked media persons to go out in order to prevent any untoward incident. The media persons soon left the court room.

Meanwhile, the media persons alleged that lawyers had threatened them to leave the court, saying, the chairs inside the court room were meant for lawyers and if they wanted to report, they should go out and report. They also warned media persons to leave the court room in order to avoid situations from turning from bad to worse.
