Woman found dead at house, husband missing

KOZHIKODE: A 25-year-old woman was found dead with a deep gash on her neck in a rented house at Thalikkarayil in the Kuttiyadi police station limits in the district. The victim was identified as Bindu of Velloorkulam, near Chelakkara, bordering Thrissur and Palakkad districts. Preliminary investigation indicated that her husband, Lalu, and his mother, Thankamani, were suspects in Bindu’s death. Both of them, along with the couple’s three-year-old child, were missing. Investigators said Bindu could have been violently attacked with a knife that resulted in her death. Neighbours had reported that they had heard noises from the house at night.
A case was registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The police said Lalu had rented the one-room house only a few months ago. Bindu had come to stay with her husband just three days ago. This was after the death of their newborn baby at a hospital at Chelakkara a fortnight ago.
