25 injured as KSRTC buses collide

MALAYINKEEZHU: More than 25 passengers got injured as two KSRTC buses in which they were travelling collided on Friday. The condition of the driver is serious. 

The incident happened in the morning at around 8 near Ooruttambalam, Valiyarathala Thamburan Shiva temple. The injured have been shifted to Medical college hospital and Malayinkeezhu hospital. Bus driver Muraleedharan (57) is battling for life, according to reports.

The buses that collided were the one that was going towards East Fort from Ooruttambalam and the one that was going towards  Ooruttambalam from Pappanamkode. Fourteen passengers with serious injuries were shifted to Medical college hospital and the rest were taken to Malayinkeezhu Shanthivila government hospital.

The portion near dirver’s seat got completely damaged and the driver was taken out after breaking off that portion. The locals who rushed to the scene hearing the bang of the collision and cries of the passengers immediately began the rescue work. The vehicles and ambulances which came that way at that time helped them shift the injured to the hospitals.
